Delegation from Kumatori

This afternoon a delegation from Kumatori, Mildura's sister city in Japan, visited The Art Vault.

Kyoko Imazu and I were pleased to welcome them to the studios and talk to them about our current project inspired by the Chinese Zodiac figures of Sanjusangendo Temple in Kyoto.

Thank you to Cr Mark Eckel and the staff of The Art Vault for making this such a successful meeting.

Damon and Kyoko will present a forum based on their artistic relationship spanning the last four years after meeting at The Australian Print Workshop. Their work explores themes including nature, science, art and technology.

Art Vault 5th Anniversary

To celebrate five years of printmaking the Art Vault published a book tracing its history and the many artists who have worked in their studios. 

'Along the River', supported by Arts Victoria and the Japan Foundation Sydney, was one of these featured projects. 

Zodiac at Art Vault Mildura

Kyoko and Damon are halfway through their printing residency at Art Vault Mildura. Thank you to Julie, Mia, and all the staff here for making it such a wonderful place to work. 

Zodiac

Yesterday Kyoko Imazu and Damon took first proofs for the Zodiac Print Project at APW. Inspired by statues at Sanjusangen-do Temple in Kyoto, the project features portraits representing the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. 

Above you can see horse, rabbit, rooster, rat, snake and ram. 

Kyoko and Damon will be editioning Zodiac from August 6 to 21 at The Art Vault Mildura.

The Art Vault is pleased to announce their 5th Anniversary Exhibition

Wednesday 30 October to Monday 18 November

On Saturday 2 November the Don Mayne Trio will perform from 2 to 4 pm. Entry $5 at the door.

Please join them on Saturday 16 November from 4 to 5pm for the official closing - a chance to learn  about the art and talk about the future.

Residency at Art Vault Mildura - 'Along the River'

From 25 June to 16 July Kyoko Imazu and I will be artists in residence at the Art Vault Mildura.While there we will produce a suite of 14 etchings based on the riverside architecture of Kyoto.

This project has been supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria, The Japan Foundation Sydney and Art Vault.
