Luxor International Painting Symposium
Since 2008 the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Cultural Development Fund have supported the Luxor International Painting Symposium. Organised by Dr Ibrahim Ghazala, General Commissar of the Symposium, it brings together 25 artists from Egypt and around the world.
Over a two week period the participants share ideas and stories, explore the rich cultural heritage of Luxor and produce work for the exhibition that concludes the Symposium.
I am delighted to have been invited by the Cultural Development Fund and Australian Embassy Cairo to participate in this year's symposium.

Printmaking in Pakistan
In February Damon Kowarsky taught a three week printmaking workshop at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi.
During this time he worked with final year students from IVSAA, Karachi School of Art, Karachi University and the Karachi Arts Council to teach two plate colour etching. The students completed one or two prints on subjects including architecture, politics, textile design and contemporary life in Pakistan.
This was Damon's first visit to Karachi but not to Pakistan, where he taught for six months in 2007 at BNU Lahore. It was good to return and renew friendships and work once again with students, artists and colleagues.
