AAANZ Printmaking Panel December 2022

On 3 December I presented a paper as part of the 'Prints and Printmaking: Past, Present, and Future' panel at the 2022 AAANZ Conference.

In my talk I looked at depictions of landscape through my own work and the contemporary and historical printmakers who have influenced it. The talk looked at the ways landscape has expanded and contracted in response to new ideas about the world, and how it has come to be central to my current practice.

Session Convenors were Dr Louise Voll Box, University of Melbourne and Kerrianne Stone, University of Melbourne, and speakers included Deirdre Cannon, National Gallery of Australia, John Landt, Australian National University, and Alice Clanachan, Flinders University.

Etching Workshop in Bondi

Waverley Woollhara Art School is pleased to present a weekend workshop to learn the basics of intaglio printmaking [etching] on copper.

Etching on copper is one of the oldest forms of printmaking. Invented in Germany in the 15th century, it has since been used by masters including Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya, Picasso, Hockney, and many others. It is very close to drawing, and is a rewarding way to create multiple images in a medium with a rich history and dynamic contemporary practice.

Over the two day workshop participants will learn the basics of copper etching. This includes preparing plates, applying hardground, etching with ferric chloride, simple aquatints, and printing on cotton paper with high quality ink.

Saturday 10 September and Sunday 11 September 2022 from 10am to 4pm each day.
