Exhibition - 'Golden Nuggets'
Mashrabia Gallery Cairo and GIZ are pleased to present
Golden Nuggets
A group exhibition of small works
Opening on Sunday, December 7 at 6 pm
Artists include Aziz El Hihi, Baharaddin Adam, Damon Kowarsky, Essam Marouf, Fadwa Ramadan, Gilbert Cosset, Hany Rashed, Marwa El Shazly, Qarm Qart, Salah El Mur, Wahib Nassar and more.
Although size is key in contemporary art and its production, many artists have nonetheless focused on the realization of several small pieces throughout their career. The exhibition Golden Nuggets now on display at GIZ presents small artworks not only to offer a view on this diverse panorama but also to ponder on the value hidden behind a small size. Ranging from the abstract still life of Essam Marouf to the monoprints of Hany Rashed, through the beads and feathers of Marwa el Shazly and the masks of Salah el Mur, the collection gathers well established and lesser known artists to explore the broad possibilities of concept, technique and the use of different media.
Is the size crucial to determine the value of an artwork or rather you can find gold enclosed even in a small frame?
